Apart from classic materials that have been defining the popular Boker Straight Razor for decades, they are always looking for modern and innovative natural material combinations offering a special look or feel that straight razor users will love.

Not far from the company headquarters of the Boker manufacture in Solingen we find the hallmark of the Bergisches Land region, the castle Burg an der Wupper that is also one of the largest castles in western Germany and the largest reconstructed castle in North Rhine-Westphalia. The famous history of Castle Burg is inseparably linked to the Duchy Berg and the counts von Berg (Haus Berg 1068-1225). On this occasion Boker decided to dedicate a series of Straight Razors to the three counts von Berg, which symbolizes parts of the life of the three counts and reminds us of the remarkable property and influence of the counts with impressive ornamentations made from 24 carat gold.

The extraordinary 6/8" Boker Graf Adolf III Straight Razor symbolizes the death of Adolf III Count von Berg during the fifth crusade in Egypt. The end of the polished blade is lined by a French head which underlines the special elegance of this knife. Hand-picked stag scales with additional decorative studs, the elaborate grind of the blade back, and the partial gilding (24 carat) are just a few of the highlights.

Handmade in the Boker Knife Manufactory in Solingen, Germany.

All Boker straight razors come as shave ready. There’s is no need for honing, just strop adequately then you can start shaving.

Note that, since as these are natural wooden scales, each model may vary in color or texture due to the nature of the material.

Straight Razor Care Instructions

Unlike any other shaving tools, straight razors require special care. The cutting edge must be protected from impacts and contact with any hard surface. After each shave you must clean and dry your straight razor with a soft paper towel without touching the very edge and strop it to keep it sharp. You can strop on the canvas side of your strop to clean the cutting edge after each shave.  Please do not try to sharpen your straight razor by yourself if you don’t have adequate honing experience, otherwise you can cause irreparable damage. You may consult our straight razor honing service. If you won’t be using your straight razor for a long time, it’s best to cover it with a thin coat of oil to keep it rust free. This is especially important for straight razors with carbon steels, as carbon steel is very prone to rust in humid conditions. Keep your straight razor in a dry place and out of children’s reach.

CAUTION: Straight razors are serious tools for experienced users who know their faces, skins, whisker types and how to lather well. They can cause serious accidents and injuries in the hands of people without enough experience. If you’re enthusiastic about traditional wet shaving but don’t have the experience needed for using a straight razor, then we recommend checking out our double edge safety razors first.
