Every straight razor user most probably will have more than one Dovo straight razor in their collection. Dovo makes straight razors with carbon, stainless or silver steel. With Dovo you get what you’ve paid for, top quality workmanship each and every time. You can’t go wrong with a Dovo.

A fabulous straight razor from the 113-year old German Straight Razor legend Dovo; Dovo Square Point Silver Steel.

So why is this straight razor so special? Let's start with the steel: It is a 5/8" full hollow straight razor, made from “Silver Steel” type of steel. This is a high-carbon steel with a lot of chromium. It is called silver steel because it easily gets a mirror-like silver shine when polished. High carbon and chromium content increases strength and hardenability of the steel, giving considerable wear resistance. Silver steel is of higher quality than regular carbon steels and is only used in top quality straight razors. In fact, it is one of the best carbon steels that can be used for straight razors. Straight razors made with this steel can get very sharp and keep their sharpness for longer time.

The scales are made from solid ebony wood, which are air dried for months before use. They are completely made and polished by the hands of skilled craftsmen. As one of the hardest woods in the world, ebony is a very valuable tree with its jet-black color and strength. The spine, shoulder and tail of the razor are all gold plated. Gold plating provides an elegant contrast with ebony scales, and also  protects the steel against rust.

Lastly the final blow comes from the tip. This wonderful razor has a square tip. Today, almost all of the straight razors have rounded tips, which is easy to use, but not very precise forstyling. Straight razors with square tips on the other hand, are very well-suited for shaping the beard and sideburns. You can work very fine with these and create your style easily. Square tips, which require a little more experience, are very rare nowadays.

Silver steel, solid ebony scales, gold-plating and square tip. It’s very hard to come across all these features on a single straight razor. Get this handsome razor painstakingly made by master craftsmen while the stocks last.

All Dovo straight razors comes in their factory sealed boxes and are shave ready. There’s is no need for honing, just strop adequately then you can start shaving.

Straight Razor Care Instructions

Unlike any other shaving tools, straight razors require special care. The cutting edge must be protected from impacts and contact with any hard surface. After each shave you must clean and dry your straight razor with a soft paper towel without touching the very edge and strop it to keep it sharp. You can strop on the canvas side of your strop to clean the cutting edge after each shave.  Please do not try to sharpen your straight razor by yourself if you don’t have adequate honing experience, otherwise you can cause irreparable damage. You may consult our straight razor honing service. If you won’t be using your straight razor for a long time, it’s best to cover it with a thin coat of oil to keep it rust free. This is especially important for straight razors with carbon steels, as carbon steel is very prone to rust in humid conditions. Keep your straight razor in a dry place and out of children’s reach.

CAUTION: Straight razors are serious tools for experienced users who know their faces, skins, whisker types and how to lather well. They can cause serious accidents and injuries in the hands of people without enough experience. If you’re enthusiastic about traditional wet shaving but don’t have the experience needed for using a straight razor, then we recommend checking out our double edge safety razors first.
